If they'll do this for pizza...
We just watched this video at a staff meeting this morning and asked ourselves that question: If Domino's will do this to get someone to try a pizza, what are we willing to do to get someone to 'try' Christ? To give the church a chance?
What about the "church holdouts" who we connect with daily? Maybe we can't go after everyone with billboards and airplane banners, I'm guessing that would get costly real fast.
BUT...
We can invest in the lives of the people we come in contact with every day.
And we can invite them to church.
What's even better? Each week we're striving to craft an experience that is perfect for someone who is a holdout! We have the collective forces, resources, talents and passions of the most powerful movement on the planet - the church - coming together to do one thing: make God known to a lost and dying world.
But what if we're the ones holding out? What if the 'church holdouts' are only holdouts, because the church-goers are holding out on an invitation to experience something bigger, something stronger, something deeper, something that's missing in the lives of our neighbors and friends? What if we're holding out on letting others know about the grace we've experienced, the love we've been shown?
Maybe you're thinking it won't work with your friends.
Maybe you're thinking the church and it's message wouldn't be relevant to them.
Here's a little statistic to blow up that theory:
77% of those in attendance at our last TeamLife class were unchurched prior to coming to Meck.
77%
What we're striving to do as a church isn't mythical or something we're hoping to achieve - it's happening. It's working. It's reality. We're reaching the lost with the message of Christ. Marriages are being restored. Children are learning to pray. Lives are being changed...forever.
So, again, I ask the question...If Domino's will do that for pizza, what will you do for Christ?
